Are You a Solution Provider?

Many businesses are in trouble. The economy is making them re-evaluate the way they have always done business and they are looking for solutions to their problems. Position yourself not as a salesperson but as a Solution Provider. The emphasis is subtle but important. It’s all about them, not about you, your product or your service. Find out what is causing them pain. Then if your product or service can be a good solution to the problem and only then, offer it.

If not, think if there is someone you know that you can refer them to. You are not going to be the perfect fit for everyone. If you help them find someone who is, they’ll remember you and either use you in the future, refer to you or just talk favorably about you. All of those are good and you’ll feel good, too.
