How Do You Capture Ideas?

Did you ever have a really great idea that you planned to take action on, but you forgot what it was before you did anything with it? If you’re like me, you get ideas all the time! Some of them are things that I have no intention of doing now, or even in the near future, but they’re still great ideas, and someday they will be the perfect thing to do. When that happens, how do you “trap” the idea so that when the time is right, you’ll still have it?

Here’s what I do:

  • Label a file folder called “Idea Trap!” Use the kind of folder with closed ends as most things in this file will end up being small pieces of paper.
  • Keep a notepad handy in your car, purse, briefcase, and by your bedside. As soon as you get an idea, write it down. Don’t wait till later – you’ll forget!
  • Put all the notes in your “Idea Trap!” folder. There is not organization in it; just lots of ideas on all different topics. They may be great quotes, marketing ideas, a brochure that you really liked, just anything that sounded like a great idea.

Every once in a while look through your Idea Trap. You’ll know that’s a place you can always go to get a great idea!

There’s still time to register for today’s tele-seminar! Let’s get unblocked together! Now there’s a great idea!
