Do you still hand out business cards? Do you accept business cards from potential colleagues when you meet them at a networking event? While business cardsome people believe the business card is dead, there are still other business professionals who feel their business card is a great “takeaway” from a meeting. Even though we have a virtual accounting firm and are totally paperless in our operation, business cards are the one piece of paper we still use.

Regardless of your thoughts on business cards (and I’d love to hear them!) here are three ways to make the most of yours:

  • Make certain you include your company logo. While you don’t want to clutter the card, your logo is your brand and should be on any materials you are handing out.
  • Your contact information should be included. (Yes, I have received some cards that did not have contact information!) Include at least your phone number, web address, and your email. If you have an office or storefront, include your address. You want to make it as easy as possible for a potential client to reach out to you.
  • Don’t forget to take advantage of the real estate on the back of the card. Make it a coupon for “dollars off” one of your services, put a list of your services, add your photo, include your social media handles, display your mission statement, or anything that makes you unique.

Do you still use business cards? Why or why not?
