Tips for Avoiding Burn Out

HERE’S WHAT WORKS FOR ME

  1. Schedule time away from work. Leave your laptop behind. Don’t check email on your PDA. I don’t know about you, but if I don’t schedule it, it doesn’t happen. My monthly cabin weekends keep me going throughtout the month. When I leave the cabin, I never do so without planning my next trip up north.
  2. Move. Exercise is a great way to release stress and sharpen your brain. Whether it’s a swimming laps, walking around the block, climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator or hiking Camelback Mountain, motion is what your body was made for.
  3. Play more. The old adage “all work, no play” has been around for a long time because it is true. Playing with your kids/cats/dogs or getting together with friends moves you to a different part of your brain and releases those “feel good” juices.
