Visibility: Can You See Me Now?

I was meeting with a new client the other day who is just starting his business.  He has a great concept, unique service, good execution (I know because I used his service) and a nice website.  When I asked how he was going to grow his business, he answered “word of mouth.” 

Referrals are the lifeblood of many businesses.  People who are referred to you are definitely the easiest prospects to convert into clients.  But even your biggest supporters won’t think about you (yes, wonderful you!) all the time.
How can you stay in front of your prospects and referral sources without blowing your marketing budget?  Here are a few things that are working for us:

1) Use the Internet to build buzz.  Use weekly emails that give them something of value.  You have probably already received a couple of emails from me called “A Quick Biz-Tip by Carolyn Brown.”  I’m passing along the best of what I’ve learned from years of experience and the experts that I have studied under and consulted with.  My hope is that it will be useful to you. Unlike this eNews, Biz-Tips are short and sweet.  Some of the things I’ll be sharing may remind you of good ideas that you have heard before.  Others will be something that you may never have heard before.  Thanks to all of you who have sent me emails telling me how much you have enjoyed and benefited from these tips.  Special thanks to those who have projected them on the big screen during their team meetings! ;o)
2) Win awards and let others sing your praises.  I just love having someone else introduce me as NAWBO Business Owner of the Year or a BBB Business Ethics Awards Finalist.  Not only do the organizations promote you, the press picks it up.  And it is amazing how people do remember the honors you have received.
3) Support organizations that you believe in with a sponsorship.  We so strongly believe in the mission and value provided by the Better Business Bureau that we are proud to sponsor them.  Those of you who work or travel to the 24h Street and Camelback area this month will see part of the benefit of that sponsorship.  Aligning with organizations whose focus and mission is complementary to yours helps to extend your brand.
