What Number is Your Business Today?

That which gets examined gets improved. If we never look at where we are, we’re probably not going to get better.

Here are two valuable questions I learned from my mentor, Patricia Drain, that you could ask yourself every day or at least every week:

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being ready to quit and close the door for good and 10 being Rock Star status, how would you rate your business today?
  • What would it take to get your business to the next highest number?

It’s the second question that holds the power. How do I get to the next level? What one thing could I do today? It doesn’t have to be a big project or take a lot of time. Could you call a former client just to check in on how they’re doing? Could you get someone else to do something you don’t want to do? Could you hire more staff? Do you need to delegate minor tasks so you can free yourself up to concentrate on your core competencies?

Take some time today and ask yourself, “What can I do to propel my business to the next rung of success?”

What could you do today?
