Who Do You Listen To?

As business owners not all of our associates understand the decisions we have to make. You’re probably like me with lots of friends who have never owned a business. Have you figured out that business owners think differently? And we treat risk differently – often calling it investment.

Make sure the people you’re listening to have experience with what you are trying to achieve. Don’t ask someone who has never designed systems, done a marketing campaign or hired staff how to do it. Look for someone who can speak from experience.

As the owner of a virtual accounting firm I am most careful of who I choose to take advice from. Because my business is a virtual one, many of my valued associates who own brick and mortar firms don’t recognize the difference that makes. That difference can be huge!
