Do You Wait Well?

It often seems like we spend more time waiting than doing anything else, so learning to wait well is an important skill to cultivate. Whether it is traffic, meetings or results, waiting well is something every business professional needs to do. Those who don’t often build up impatience, stress and even anger (think road rage) when things don’t go as they planned.

What do I mean by waiting well?

  • You start a new marketing campaign and expect results the first day. That would be nice, but repetition is iPicture1mportant in marketing. Just wait; you’ll see the results.
  • You email something while you’re talking to someone and expect them to receive it immediately. It’s hard to believe, but the internet occasionally hiccups or something and it can take hours for an email to arrive.
  • You turn on your computer and it seems to take “forever” for it to start up. Do you remember when we could turn on the computer and have time to go brew a cup of tea while it started up?

Patience is a virtue. Patience is simply waiting well instead of being like the two-year-old who wants what they want when they want it.
