Is It Finished?

The calendar tells us that 2013 is finished. It’s gone. Good, bad or mediocre, the year has ended and a new year has begun. But is 2013 Picture1finished? Are you done with it yet?

As virtual accountants this is a very busy time for us finishing 2013 for our clients. There are 1099s to send to their vendors and landlord, inventory adjustments to make, accounts to reconcile, and information to prepare for their CPAs to do their taxes. You see, unless you have filed your taxes for 2013, it is not finished.

Those of you who are long-time Biz-Tip readers and fans know that I almost never mention accounting in my tips. Today is the exception. Here is your friendly reminder that your CPA is going to want to receive all the information to file your taxes at least 30 days prior to your filing deadline. Corporations need to file by March 17th (because the 15th is on Saturday this year) and partnerships, Schedule Cs, estates, trusts, and individuals need to file by April 15th. Even if you’re filing an extension, your taxes are due on those dates.

If you don’t want to be worrying about this next year, call 480-219-4285 to schedule a complimentary 30 minute strategy session.
